There is always a capable person who would like to be a leader. High achievers who are not surrounded by gifted students have a chance to bloom and experience what it is like to be a leader. Conversely, just because a student is gifted, does not mean a burning desire to lead is present. Having gifted students clustered in one room, lets those that want to lead compete/collaberate to that end. It also can take pressure off the gifted student who may have always had the leadership role thrust upon them.
I agree with Tony on this one. Just because a student is gifted does not necessarily mean that they have a desire for leadership. Having the gifted students clustered will provide more opportunities for collaboration.
